FoBP charity - consultation

This page aims to give some of the detail of FoBP as a charity.

What is the charity aiming to do?

Summary of FoBP objects:

Conservation and Improvement:
Promote the conservation, preservation, and enhancement of Broomfield Park as a space of natural beauty, wildlife habitat, and attractive parkland.

Facilities for Social Welfare:

Provide or support recreational and leisure facilities for individuals in need due to youth, age, disability, financial hardship, or social circumstances, aiming to improve their quality of life.

These objects reflect the wide range of activities that FoBP volunteers do in the park, from horticulture and creating biodiverse habitats, through educational visits, healthy living and heritage preservation to the annual programme of events and activities.

Members' views

The consultation on the constitution showed that the majority support the proposed ‘association’ constitution as it stands.

Trustees have considered all the comments made in feedback and agreed that some small changes could be made to improve the constitution. We have sought advice from the charity consultant on the changes we would like to make. We will now make those amendments and submit them to the Charity Commission for their approval. If the charity commission accept the changed constitution we will confirm to members.

The constitution will be reviewed annually to ensure effective governance. If changes for improvement are proposed they will be voted on at the AGM or if urgent, at a general meeting.
