Aki Moriuchi: Sketchbooks detailing the plants of Broomfield Park

Aki Moriuchi has been a volunteer for the horticultural group of Broomfield Park for over four years. She is an acclaimed potter and a ceramicist and a Fellow of The Craft Potters Association of Britain. Aki has lived and worked in London and St. Ives, Cornwall. In 2008 she returned to London and settled in Palmers Green where she changed her artistic media from clay to paint, canvas and paper.

Aki writes “In June 2023, I started to draw plants in my sketchbooks, focusing on the weeds and wildflowers of Broomfield Park.

Now more than 900 pages and still going ... (nearly 1000 pages!)”.

You can see Aki’s sketchbooks in the Conservatory, Broomfield Park and marvel at the beauty of the plants that many of us dismiss as mere weeds.

Some of her images are shown here to give you a taste of the subtlety and beauty of her work and also of the wonderful diversity of plants in Broomfield Park.

Come and visit the Conservatory to see more.
