Conservatory end of year update
First a big thanks to everyone who supported us in 2023.
First a big thanks to everyone who supported us in 2023. We enjoyed sharing our mini-Kew with a large numbers of visitors.
We held a number of very successful Plant Sales this year. Some of the money raised was used to repair and repaint the railings in front of the conservatory. When the conservatory first reopened to the public, there was a chain link fence in place. The volunteers managed to track down the railings which had been removed from the toilets on the Triangle in Palmers Green. These were refurbished with the help of a local blacksmith and installed in a low brick wall. The original gates were adapted to provide access. This work was made possible by a grant from the Enfield Society. Over the years the railings had lost their shine, but they have now been restored to their former glory. Thanks to everyone who bought a plant or made a donation in 2023.
We are sorry that the Conservatory is closed to the public at present, but essential works are being carried out, which have required a large amount of scaffolding. The lantern, top section of the roof, was found to be in urgent need of repair and the whole of the exterior requires repainting. Work is underway and we hope that it will be completed before next Spring. The volunteers still have access, so the plants can be looked after. Grow lights have been installed and the plants seem to be coping very well. The body content of your post goes here.
